Last December we were pleased to start supplying Ocado, the online supermarket. And now we’re  very excited to have been featured in this months Ocado Life Magazine!

You’ll find us on page 12 where we’re included in  a small article, Three of the Best Porridge Pots and alongside Rude Health & Yorkshire Provender no less!

Flapjack with a difference!

Its not always easy to find time to make porridge for breakfast so TV Chef Peter Sidwell  of Simply Good Food TV uses our fruity porridge oat mix in this easy flapjack recipe.

All bound together with prune juice as an alternative to using sugar or honey, and therefore refined sugar free.

Simplyseedz featured on BBC Hereford & Worcester radio

Cathryn Simplyseedz Founder

Yesterday I was interviewed by Malcolm Boyden of BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester.

It was my first time in a radio studio and I was on air for approx. 15 minutes – time flew by!  And fortunately it all went well.

Malcolm was very interested about how my business started and loved our products!

As an entrepreneur its a rollercoaster ride; you hit a few twists, turns and bumps, but the moral is to keep at it, don’t give up and deliver the best customer service possible.

We even got some web orders as subsequence to being on air!

To listen to our slot (while enjoying your breakfast perhaps) click the link below – you’ll find us around 1hr 8minutes into the show. Enjoy!

Simply Good Food TV featuring Simplyseedz

Well this was a little while ago (last November) when we got asked to be involved together with Troo Granola with the launch of Simply Good Food TV  when they held a 24hr cooking live cooking programme. Here is a snippet of Peter Sidwell making breakfast –  Simplyseedz is about 10 mins in from the start of this video should you wish to skip a long a bit!

Peter made an easy and delicious topping for our Date & Apricot porridge during the show.

We got to try his breakfast creations and hope that they inspire you to try something different!

Happy Breakfasting!

Tesco Backit Crowdfunding Campaign

Please help us bring our range of natural breakfast and snacking products, to the nation!

We’re raising £3000 via Tesco Backit to enable development of our range of breakfast and snack products. We want to get the nation starting the day with a bowl of our delicious natural fruity porridge and to snack on our flavoured toasted seed mix toppings.

The good news is that Simplyseedz is ready to hit the supermarket shelves!

We find it frustrating to see so little choice in the supermarket cereal aisle, and so many with high levels of sugar or additives. For example porridge is perceived to be healthy, which it should be. But more often than not, especially the convenient on the go pots, can be packed with as much as 40 grams (i.e. 8 teaspoons) of refined sugar, making them a poor choice. You may as well choose a mars bar for breakfast (this is not recommended of course!)

Then there’s the healthier snacks, but again often they have added salt! Some snacks get dismissed because they can be perceived to be just too healthy, faddy or only suitable for those on a specific diet or fitness regime! Seedz are not just for the birds!!

Simplyseedz products can be enjoyed by everyone and this is the message we wish to promote. You certainly don’t have to be a gym bunny to enjoy our range!

We believe the opportunity for Simplyseedz is significant and can only grow. From little seeds to mighty oaks – well ok maybe a forest first, but it’s an exciting time for you to help us on our journey!

What impact will pledges make?

The pledges we receive will enable the business to fulfil its ambitions to further market our Simplyseedz brand. As a backer you will have our full commitment to get Simplyseedz to be the snack or breakfast of choice.

What are our business aspirations?

It is our desire to be the top snack or breakfast of choice and the brand that everyone knows, loves and trusts. We have lots of ideas waiting to be fulfilled, which includes additional flavours and products.

What have you achieved so far?

While we have made some great strides so far in our journey, such as supplying Gloucester Services (M5), Fenwicks Food Hall, Daylesford Organics and have recently launched porridge on Ocado and Amazon.  We were delighted to receive a Great Taste Award in 2016 for our Date & Apricot Porridge.  Simply, we just need more people to discover Simplyseedz. So there’s lots more to do!

So here’s how you can help!

Firstly, click on the link to take you to our campaign and watch the video (I hate being video’d but it had to be done!)

And take a look at the rewards being offered in exchange for your pledge – you can earn lots of scrummy items from your support, from product to John Lewis breakfast bowls!

You don’t need to give money to help us succeed! Please share this project with anyone you think would support us – on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, by email, telephone, in a chat over the fence or on your blog.

And we know we said you don’t need to give money to help us, but we’d love it if you did! Please sponsor us and help make this happen.

Thank you for support, Cathryn.

Simplyseedz meets TV Chef Peter Sidwell

Yesterday I visited Food Matters Live, Excel, London, where I was interviewed by TV chef Peter Sidwell!

Some Price Changes

Ginger & Honey 3I hate being the bearer of bad news, but due to increased costs in the production of our seed mixes, I want to let you know that we sadly have to increase our prices.  This is our first ever price change since Simplyseedz began as a redundancy project nearly 6 years ago!

As you may be aware, all our seed mixes are hand toasted in small batches in our kitchen for freshness, and then manually packed into cartons and labeled.

There is no mass manufacture here, just lots of careful preparation, gentle roasting, and packing so that they get to you in the best possible way for you to enjoy!

Our seed mixes contain only the highest quality ingredients with the savoury range containing pine nuts, which gives them their unique and moreish-ness (is there such a word?).  Anyone who uses pine nuts will know how expensive they are and due to high demand over limited availability, the market price continues to rise. And pumpkin seeds have also seen a rise in their market price too.

So I do hope you understand the reasons behind this small change and big thanks to you all for your continued support of Simplyseedz.

Happy munching!
