It can sometimes be difficult to find time for breakfast especially if you have a long commute to work each day.

You’re in a packed train carriage, followed by long days in the office at everyone’s beck & call. It’s so much easier & quicker to just pick up something on the go from the passing bakery that probably isn’t the best/healthiest choice to accompany that large cappuccino….

So you quickly grab whatever you find, & its gone in seconds…..you probably didn’t notice or even taste whatever it was and by midday you are absolutely starving….quick run to the vending machine or corner café & grab something…again….not noticing what you’ve eaten, you’ve too much to do – you’ve emails/meetings/clients to see….and so each day/week goes by the same, still no time for breakfast….

Unfortunately, it is often the things we grab that are plied high with sugar and salt, mass produced, the packaging says “Eat Me”, and that’s just what we do…and what I used to do. Sometimes, I’d say to myself I will make a better choice tomorrow,……but kicking that habit can be hard.

Actually, I’ve always loved breakfast but just got out of the routine. However every now & then, I’d make my own muesli at home for the family & always found it to be better than anything I could buy in the supermarkets, so when I was made redundant from my job in Central London, Simply SeedZ breakfast products was born! Are vitamins necessary?

Well in a word, yes they are!!

But taking supplements can be a chore.  How many times I’ve bought a containers of recommended vitamins with good intention to start a regime of taking each day.  They tend to be expensive, easy to forget to take and sit in a cupboard until the sell by date….then bin!

But there is an easier way to get all the vitamins we need to maintain and improve our health and well being, through diet.

A balanced diet is essential we are told.  Let me tell you just some of the key vitamins we need and why.

Vitamin C – Found in Cranberries – Cranberries offer excellent anti inflammatory benefits, antioxidant, cardiovascular benefits, anti cancer benefits and digestive tract benefits

Vitamin A – Found in Apricots – Apricots contain nutrients that promote good vision, anti oxidant. apricots are also a good source of fibre, preventing constipation & digestive conditions

Vitamin K – Found in Pumpkin Seeds & Cinnamon – Pumpkin seeds are also a great source of protein, iron & copper, low in cholesterol and sodium.

I’m a Finalist!! Heart of England Fine Foods Special Diamond Awards 2013

I’m very excited and pleased to announce that Simply SeedZ has made it to the final stages of the Heart of England Fine Foods Special Diamond Awards in the category of Innovate!!

After submitting products and presenting my business case to a panel of food industry experts and answering their many questions (similar to Dragons Den!) I am delighted to have got this far, especially as a new comer in the food industry!

The winner will be announced on 18th May at a Gala Dinner at the Metropole NEC, Birmingham which will be hosted by Joanne Malin of BBC Midlands Today.

Best get a new frock!!

EASY BAKED BANANAS (FOR BREAKFAST)

As recommended by one of my customers, this is an easy and a delicious breakfast or desert, which is one of your 5 a day!

Bake a ripe banana with skin on in the oven on for 12 minutes. Slice in half, sprinkle with cinnamon and serve with natural yoghurt and a handful of Simply SeedZ Honey & Ginger Seed Mix.

All your favourites now in larger size cartons!

New bigger cartons of your favourite SeedZ!

At last I am really pleased to announce and introduce my new brand packaging for all my products and (due to popular demand) in much bigger sizes!!

Your favourite sweet and savoury SeedZ has changed to 200g cartons, and all Bircher & Crunchy Muesli and Fruity Porridge are now sold in 500g cartons!

The cartons are British made and designed, made from recycled cardboard that can be recycled again!

 

 

Simple to make Bircher Muesli for Breakfast

My very popular Bircher Muesli recipe is just so easy to prepare for your breakfast tomorrow morning, with no cooking required!

Ingredients (to make 2 x 75g portions)

150g SeedZ Bircher Muesli Mix (Apricot & Cranberry or Banana & Blueberry)

150ml of apple juice or orange juice

1 tbsp low fat Greek yoghurt

Put all ingredients in bowl and mix thoroughly.

Cover and chill – for best results minimum 2 hours or preferably overnight.

To serve, grate some apple or slice some banana

If you want a slightly softer consistency, add a little more juice.

Once made your Bircher Muesli will keep for up to 5 days in fridge, if you can resist it for that long 🙂
