With the global spread of Coronavirus, every news bulletin is alarming! So I thought I'd drop a line about some extra ways to help keep any bugs at bay.
It will be no surprise to hear that I've been eating pumpkin seeds daily for the past 10 years. I have them in my porridge, keep a pack on my desk for that mid afternoon slump and love a few to snack on while cooking our evening meal.
And I've not had a proper cold since (or even flu), just the odd little sniffle. I believe that by adding them daily into your diet does certainly help. I can't claim that it will keep this nasty virus away, but it may help with all the other bugs that are about.
They are packed with lots of nutrients and contain high levels of zinc which is important for a healthy immune system.
Have a zinc rich diet by including pumpkin seeds daily - in your morning breakfast through to your evening dinner.
Pumpkin seeds are a powerful little seed!
We’re just ever so excited!
Simplyseedz receives a great review from the Mail on Sunday, Dr Clare Bailey!
This was such an unexpected and unsolicited mention in the Mail on Sunday, this weekend, in the You Magazine, that it’s taken us by surprise with orders flooding in!
To have such an endorsement by an expert in the field of nutrition (Clare’s husband is the acclaimed author of the Fast diet, and a BBC regular, Dr Michael Mosley).
Fortunately we are able to fulfill all orders as we were ready for the healthy New Year rush. We just hadn’t planned for this unknown article!
We’re working as fast as we can to get orders out but please do bear with us if there is a slight delay in dispatching.

We recently were asked to support a charity sports Quiz event at the Ivy London with many sporting Olympic legends.
Teams were lead by these famous Olympians and a very competitive evening ensued (well they are highly competitive folk!) & Mark was particulary pleased for his team to have won!
All these sporting heros value healthy eating and are still keeping incredibly fit. We provided Simplyseedz baked pumpkin seeds goody bags as thank you. Our baked pumpkin seeds are high protein, and perfect fuel whether pre gym or post workout.
Needless to say, it was a good night had by all and they seemed pretty happy with their goodies!

Golly winter seems to have returned despite us being now on British Summer Time. Tis wonky weather for sure but It seems like we have an extended hot porridge season!

Our fabulous porridge is packed with British Jumbo Oats, heaps of pumpkin and sunflower seeds for added nutrition and texture and fruit. They contain only 5 ingredients!! Our Apple & Cinnamon is less than 5% sugar content purely from the chopped apple, making it suitable for diabetics and within the recommended Weight Watchers porridge guidelines!
All our porridge is instant and can be made by just pouring hot water on them, stir & leave for a couple of minutes et voila, breakfast is made in a jiffy! Alternatively, you can make in the microwave using any type of milk (nut, soya, dairy) or prepare as overnight oats. Even our pots are microwaveable and fully recyclable, as is all our packaging :)

Have a jolly (good) Simplyseedz Christmas!
We've lots of ideas for a healthy Christmas and here are just a few of our favourite suggestions
1 Spice up the Veg!
Sprinkle some baked pumpkin seeds on vegetables to get a lovely crunch with your Christmas lunch, for example, pop some Hot Chilli or Jalapeno & Kaffir Lime on mashed potato - its yummy!
2 Christmas (tipsy) Porridge
Add a wee dram of whisky (well it is Christmas!) into your porridge and serve with a little mascarpone or nut butter (our favourite is Jakes Boost nut butters)
3 Go cheat on the Crisps!
Offer guests seeds instead of nuts to nibble with pre-dinner drinks. Go on cheat on the crisps & have a seedy affair!
4 Secret Santa?
Our gift boxes start at just £8 (less than the average secret santa gift spend limit) but please order by 16th December to avoid disappointment.
5 Simplyseedz stuffing!
Simply add some baked pumpkin seeds (salted or mixed peppercorn) to your sage & onion stuffing mix, and cook in the usual way.
6 Simplyseedz Raspberry & Lemon Cranachan
For a simple desert mix Simply Plain Porridge with some lemon greek yoghurt (we like Rachels). Pop into shot glasses & top with a few raspberries. Keep chilled until required. We love, this as there's no cooking required!! A pot will make approx 3 servings for desert!
7 Cheese (bored?)
Make your cheese board a little more interesting this year and offer Baked pumpkin seeds alongside the stilton.
8 Sprouts Simplyseedz Style!
Believe us, seeds really do make sprouts better!
Slice your sprouts and pan fry in rapeseed oil, with a little pancetta or halloumi. When the sprouts have cooked (they should still be bright green but softened), add some mixed peppercorn or hot chilli pumpkin seeds and toss through before serving.
9 New Years Day Breakfast
Welcome the New Year in with a good protein breakfast that will set you up for that brisk New Years Day walk.
2 x slices of good quality artisan bread,
avocado, sliced
4 eggs
Mediterranean Herb Baked Pumpkin Seeds
Simply fry the eggs in a pan with a little butter, as the eggs start to cook, use a spatula and start smashing them up while cooking. Toast the bread, drizzle with rapeseed oil. Put the sliced avocado on the toast, add the smashed eggs and sprinkle Mediterranean Herb pumpkin seeds to serve. (serves 2)
and finally...

How many of us each year are tempted to roast all those scooped out pumpkin seeds???
And its easy right???
How many times have they burned to a frazzle (it happens so quickly, you really can't take your eyes off them) or no burned offerings, but instead seeds that are as tough as old boots with the disappointment of another year and still no pumpkin seeds to enjoy.....
(Alternatively, you can of course simply, JUST BUY OURS!!)
But if you really do want to toast your own then here are our top tips!
Firstly scoop out all the seeds,
remove the pulp (the stringy stuff),
wash them,
toss them in your chosen seasonings,
pop on a baking sheet in a really hot oven (and I mean hot around 230c)
roast them very carefully until they have a slight colour!
Now do not move away from the oven not for a second....otherwise you know what it will happen, yes you'll have another binfull of burnt offerings...alternatively, JUST BUY OURS!!
If you've succesfully managed to avoid any disaster, enjoy them with a drink or as a sprinkle on top of some lovely easy to make pumpkin soup (recipe to follow)
Be aware that the husk, the pinkish/white flesh, is rather hard to chew* but the gem really is the green kernel waiting inside.
Pumpkin seeds are high in magnesium for heart health, high in zinc for your immune system and packed with Omega3 plant based fat.
Save the roasting and instead grab a pot of our pumpkin seeds (kernels without the husk). Baked to perfection, and of course, extremely moreish!
Happy Halloween everyone!
Autumn Offer! Enter Pumpkin10 & get 10% off at checkout!
Code valid until 31st October 18
* in places like Spain or South America, Pepitas (pumpkin seeds) are regularly enjoyed in bars with a glass of red. However, you will often see the floors littered with pumpkin husks because they are pretty inedible. The husks get left on the floor for the evening, letting bar goers tread all over them. Apparently, it helps polish the stone floors!
